Extension Overview

BrowserFlowNotes is a Chrome extension designed to transform web browsing into structured learning through guided note-taking workflows. The extension serves the single purpose of helping students and professionals organize web research with educational templates.

Data Collection: None

• No personal information collected
• No browsing history tracked
• No analytics or telemetry
• No external servers contacted
• No cookies or tracking pixels

Local Data Storage

BrowserFlowNotes stores the following data locally on your device:

• Current page URL and title — Only while the extension is active, to provide context for your notes
• Draft notes — Your work-in-progress notes, stored until you save or clear them
• Workflow preference — Your last selected note template (Quick Capture, Research Analysis, Learning Reflection, or Email Action Items)

Chrome Sync Storage

If you have Chrome sync enabled, the following settings may sync across your devices:

• Workflow preference — Your preferred note template
• Draft notes — Work-in-progress notes (encrypted by Chrome)

This sync is handled entirely by Google Chrome. We have no access to your Chrome account or sync data.

Permissions Explained

• activeTab: Read the current page's URL and title to provide context for your notes
• sidePanel: Display the BrowserFlowNotes interface in Chrome's side panel
• storage: Save your draft notes and preferences locally
• tabs: Implement keyboard shortcuts (⌘1-8) for tab reference and "Add All Sources" feature

Data Sharing: None

• We don't share data with third parties
• We don't sell or monetize your information
• We have no advertising partners
• We don't use external analytics services

Data Retention

• Draft notes: Stored until you save them as files or manually clear them
• Settings: Stored until you uninstall the extension
• Generated files: Saved to your Downloads folder — completely under your control

Data Deletion

To delete all BrowserFlowNotes data:

1. Click "New Session" in the extension to clear draft notes
2. Uninstall the extension to remove all stored preferences
3. Delete any saved .md files from your Downloads folder if desired

Educational Use

BrowserFlowNotes is designed for students and researchers. We understand the importance of privacy in educational settings:

• No student activity is tracked or monitored
• No data is shared with educational institutions
• All research notes remain private to the user

Security

Since BrowserFlowNotes operates entirely locally:

• Your data never leaves your device (except via Chrome sync if enabled)
• No network connections are made to external servers
• No user accounts or authentication required

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will notify users through the Chrome Web Store update mechanism. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
